Where does Halloween come from?

Halloween is derived from the ancient Celtic holiday of Samhain. The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago mainly in present-day Ireland, Britain and northern France, celebrated New Year’s Day on November 1. It marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark and cold winter, a time often associated with human death.

What do people do on this day?

Popular Halloween activities include attending costume parties, carving lanterns, lighting fires, eating apples, fortune telling, pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories, and watching scary or Halloween-themed movies. Some people perform Christian religious rituals on All Hallows’ Eve, including attending religious services and lighting candles on the graves of the dead.

Why should we send greeting cards?

Although it is not a tradition to send a greeting card on Halloween, it is always heart-warming to send a greeting card to your friend and family annually.
